Rove 54

Rarely does the eye light on a thing that demands pause. You stopped and wondered, and now you are here. Receive this secret, receive this pledge.

Hidden in this neighborhood is a treasure. It contains an invitation and a passage.

You are now a rover, guided by promise and aspiration. You will discover things obscure.

This ordeal can be completed without exertion in an afternoon, but bestows benefits eternal.

This is a scavenger hunt hidden in Adams Morgan.

There are six seals hidden around the neighborhood. Seals 1–5 reveal a letter. These five letters spell a word — that word is your key. Seal 6 reveals a location.

A lock, a box, and something worth finding.

Each seal is four lines. The first half is vast; the second half is precise.

You can track your progress at the present your seals button at the bottom of this page.

The Six Seals
Seal I

Near greens, up steps —
Within the domain of the maiden who trots and triumphs. Find the house of rest and relief.
On its south flank your clue awaits.

Every park must have a building like this, by law.

Seal II

The father of geometry
loves his street.
He shaped a metal man;
It's about time you meet.

Who was the father of geometry? A nearby street bears his name.

Seal III

Near unity —
a building named by two points.
Find its sign —
it is ten paces behind.

"Two points" is not a physical characteristic. What do two points create?

Seal IV

At the lively corner we all know —
Find the shape of the rainbow.
Walk up to the high ground,
Look out over Admo.

It's adjacent to the intersection of Admo's two busiest streets.

Seal V

Red doors, red brick —
clad in armor, wielding water,
they stand vigil.
But everyone gets thirsty.

Their garage holds big trucks.

Seal VI

Admo's southwestern green —
best under bright blue skies.
Under three polarizing colors,
our allegiance flies.

No hints this time. Trust yourself.
